Officials from the school, however, refuted the remark and clarified that the students may get an “incomplete” grade but never a failing one.

Pablo Pan, Prefect of Discipline of Bestlink, clarified that “under the NSTP law, may training sila [students]” which is the reason why the students were sent to the trip in the first place.

Pan also reiterated that the waiver is a “requirement” for the students to participate in the trip. Some parents, however, claimed to not have a received any form of waiver from the school.

TV Patrol was able to obtain a copy of the said waiver, which stated that Bestlink will not be held liable for any “untoward incident that may arise in the conduct” of the activity.

A concerned parent, however, revealed that in the last minutes before the trip, Bestlink College assured the parents that they would take responsibility for anything that may occur during the field trip.

“Kung may maa-aksidente, sila ang sasagot,” the parent remarked.

Around 9 o’clock in the morning of February 20, one of the buses used during the trip lost its brake and slammed into an electric post in Tanay, Rizal killing 13 students and the driver.

Bestlink assured that their management will shoulder the burial expenses of the victims.
