Lascañas in an interview with ANC confirmed that priests, nuns and other members of  the church are giving him moral uplifting.

He also said that higher officials also have his back.

He also said that after giving his previous testimony which he called false, he went to see a nun.

"Doon nanghingi ako sa kanya ng kapatawaran dahil kasi alam ko na alam niya na nagsinunaling ako and I sought the sister na kung pwede mag-audience ako sa isang pari dahil dito ibibigay ko yung written confession ko at magbigay ako ng personal na oral testimony sa mga madre at mga pari na yun," he said

Lascañas previously denied the existences of the death squad, an action he said he redeemed b y appearing once more to the senate and giving a different testimony.

Lascañas earlier said that deteriorating health and "spiritual renewal" triggered him to confess to killing hundreds of people under the operations of the DDS.

The officer pointed the killings to President Rodrigo Duterte who was then mayor of Davao city, where the killings occurred.
